My husband I and I faced one of the most difficult times of our lives last year for a period of about 18 months.

My husband is the primary “bread winner” and I work part-time from home. When the economy crashed in ‘08/’09 my husband lost his job and didn’t work for over a year.

Like many people, the loss of income put so much stress and strain on everything around us. Our marriage was in jeopardy, our home life was being compromised and we felt powerless and fearful. Without sufficient money coming in, we found ourselves juggling bills and scrapping by just to put gas in the car and food on the table. Friends began having us over for dinner and on occasion, we were given gift cards to we could afford groceries. We had already stopped paying our mortgage and that alone kept us up at night with anxiety, fear and shame.

A modification company kept calling wanting to help us out, however, without a primary income it was pointless, so we just avoided their calls.

Here’s what changed everything: My husband started saying daily affirmations which stated having a great working environment and an abundance of money from multiple sources. He did this every morning and every night without exception. For myself, I had a wake up call that took place on a Sunday at 2:00 p.m. My family and I were in our own separate rooms doing our own separate things not really caring about much of anything. I began thinking to myself that I did NOT want to move; I wanted to KEEP our home and in order to do that we needed to begin placing ALL of our energy toward that TRUTH. I gathered the family together and explained that we needed to STAND UP, and to start “loving” our home again and it was important that we send that message to the “universe”. So, we got up off our butts and starting doing work around the house. Every weekend it became a family event to mow the lawns, pull the weeds, plant in the garden and beautify our home. By working together, with the same intention, we began to heal. Our focus was to unite and stand for something. And it was in our own “backyard” that these changes occurred.

My husband started getting work projects again and as soon as I got his first paycheck, I called the loan servicing company and sent over the paperwork. Having heard painful stories of lengthy modifications that were costly and disappointing I wrote on the fax cover in the Message section: “Please bless us with the best possible solution for peace and security.”

Our modification was approved in 3 days, didn’t cost us a dime, and I asked for an additional month before our mortgage was due which was agreed to.

My message is that we can choose to react to fear and the story WE attach to certain circumstances, or we can Stand Up, decide what we want and take action toward our own desires and dreams. Feeling grateful and power(full) is our own “built in” system that directs through life.

Dear JJ,
You have no idea how thankful my family and I are for the amazing job you have done for us. You saved not only our credit by getting our short sale approved with our lender on our house but you also saved our future as well. I was so scared to see most of my accounts with my suppliers being shut down because of our foreclosure situation.

I have lost lots of clients due to our economy but most of my suppliers still believe in me and hope is in sight even though we are not out of the wood work.

My personal life has even gotten better. I no longer feel the stress we had during the time we were losing our home and my wife and kids are better as well.

The house I lost that I cherished so much in recent years was never my house. It was too much of a house, too big, too costly to maintain and to keep. I will one day buy us a new house that this time we will call home because of what we came through. It will be a small house, comfortable to live in where will be all happy and proud.

Hello JJ,
What a ride we had! Man you saved us from the worst situation we have ever been in a long time. From the day we sat down with you at your office we knew you were going to be the one that could take us out of this mess. When we met you that day the Notice of sale was on our front door and we had only a couple weeks before being foreclosed. Not only did you stop the sale of our house at the Auction but you negotiated everything with our lenders.

Not to say in the least, Bank of America did put us through a lot of stress. They turned us down 3 times on our Loan Modifications and we even hired a Bankruptcy attorney that did pretty much nothing for us either. You are the only one that helped us and gave us hope of a better tomorrow. My wife and I are saying thank you to you from the bottom of our hearts. We owe you a lot. Stay busy. My sister Martha was right about you and your organization. You must work 24/7. How do you always answer your phone – it’s so rare these days having a person answering his phone calls. Anyway, if it wasn’t for my sis we would have lost everything.  Just like other people these days, we are having a tough time right now. After my wife lost her job things really started to go bad. We ran into all kinds of people that promised us the moon but just ripped us off the money we already had so much trouble saving. These Loan Modification companies are rip-offs. They take your money and do nothing. We waited month after month and nothing happened but you made it possible. We, unfortunately, had to short sale our house but we don’t regret doing it . We knew we couldn’t afford it anyway. Our house needed a lot of work and we are glad the people who bought it asked us for no money since we had none. You did negotiate the short sale in no time and with the least amount of stress compared to the other companies that we had hired that never did any follow up with us. Every week we knew where we were in the process and you even helped us find a rental while going through the whole thing.

Thankful is not strong enough to show how much we appreciate everything you have done for us.

It has been a hell of a ride! I am Sorry for my French! My house was going to be foreclosed a week after we met and you did the impossible by postponing it!!

Dear JJ,
Just a quick note to thank you for the tremendous effort on your part to try and help me short sale my house in Sutter Creek California, Because of the toxic housing market in northern California almost nothing is selling and the sub prime lending practices of our "Leaders" , the market has been destroyed.
